SDL Desktop Products, a division of SDL International that focuses exclusively on developing and distributing globalization productivity tools that decrease the time and cost associated with creating localized documentation and software, announced today that Techworld Language Solutions, a leading localization firm with clients that include top automotive manufacturers and Tier 1 suppliers, has switched to SDLX as its primary environment for the localization of software, help, and documentation.
The decision is based on SDLX’s improved cost-effectiveness and support for the open industry standard ‘TMX’. This ensures that investment in translation support software has long-term value, being interchangeable with any other open system. SDLX already provides Trados users with inter-operability through its support for the ‘TTX’ format.
“Within one month, we have already realized savings of over 20% in cost and time by using SDLX on our projects, which allows us to be even more competitive for our quickly growing customer base,” says Fred Meinberg, CEO of Techworld Language Solutions. “We translate a wide variety of file types, from RTF, HTML-based online help and FrameMaker documentation to resource files. SDLX’s simple, two-column translation environment, coupled with the free user training and product support we received, allowed our team to become fluent in SDLX quite rapidly. Additionally, SDLX allows us to have an unlimited number of translators working within the same translation environment, free of charge.”
“We pride ourselves on adherence to quality, process, and industry standards,” continues Meinberg. “The fact that SDLX was the first to be TMX-certified ensures that we would never again be locked into a proprietary database file format that other TM developers have built around their systems.”
