SDL International, the world’s leading provider of translation services and technology solutions, has announced the opening of a new office in Turku, Finland. With this further expansion SDL now has offices in all the Nordic countries, i.e. Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland, serving the growing customer demand for translation services in the Nordic market.
SDL already delivers Finnish translation services to a large number of both Finnish and international customers, such as Valtra, Bayer Healthcare, HP, Oracle, Sony Ericsson, IBM, Kodak, Microsoft and SAP. The new office will allow SDL to provide these services more cost effectively and with improved management and quality processes.
With a complete range of language services available, SDL Finland will be able to expand its business with customers in Finland, which operate in the fields such as Pharmaceuticals, Paper Industry, Automation/Engineering and IT, and with companies in other parts of the Nordic region, such as Atlas Copco, Citec, Ericsson, VM-data, Statoil, and WM-Data.
“SDL’s expansion in the Nordic region with its new office in Turku is part of our strategy to give local clients a strong translation provider, which offers first-class local service combined with the full support that only a truly global localization company can offer,” commented Cristina Lancaster, COO of SDL International. “To guarantee quality, a multilingual translation company must have local translation production in the target country. At SDL, we continue to make this investment, integrating new offices into our infrastructure with editors located in our main production divisions. Local employees understand local culture and terminology and, as part of SDL, adhere to our quality processes and procedures. We started SDL Sweden with a handful of employees in Stockholm four years ago, and with the opening of this new office we are now one of the largest translation companies in the Nordic area with more than 60 employees in four countries.”
